I had to read this thoughtfully that's why I didn't comment at the first time.
The words "beast" and "dove" were a bit confusing as I thought in the beginning that the poem is about the process of predatory, but it turned to be about something else :)

You made google "Dove mating rituals", the female builds the nest, the male brings the food.... We "the females" always rock, don't we?

Great job, Ingrid, very interesting Haiku.

      Thank you, dear Samia.
I changed the title slightly, as I feel the wording was too confusing.
My family has these birds as pets and to my utter surprise, the females are very promiscuous, so different to us, human females!

    Hello Ingrid,

    Lovely neat little package here...

    Grooming her feathers
    ^
In three words you have painted a picture of a female bird preening herself. This form is about creating lasting images and you have done so in the first line.

    dove obeying nature's laws
    ^
This line tells me which breed of bird. A dove - well there is all sorts of symbolism with this breed - biblical and of course a bird symbolizing peace. I do not think though this is the message you are portraying. This female Dove is acting as intended. Programmed by mother nature to preen and groom. Well, we know that there are necessary oils secreted from glads into the feathers to keep them healthy and to resist water. In this line I wonder what will be the 'ah ha' moment in the last line.

    mates with next in line.
    ^
Alright, I was not expecting that. This line suggests that this grooming is a mating ritual. Next in line seems to mean that there are a line of male Doves waiting for similar attention. If that is so I am coming back in the next life as a Dove?

    Great little Gem Ingrid.

    (((hugs)))

Doves- "After mating, the male will stay very close to the female." I had to google it because your Haiku last line i had the impression that it mated with multiple doves, but how you worded this haiku was poetic, so few words yet so much was said. Well done Ingrid, as always!
