Patient Love

by Baby Rainbow   Aug 19, 2015

I put my faith
in your sunshine dances
of patient love,
believing I could fly high into the sun
and never get burnt.

But explosions erupted
across the bridge of my stupidity,
and the rapid fire
cast a giant shadow of black ash
upon my yellow sky.

I guess I should have learned by now
that the higher you fly,
the further you fall to the ground when you crash.

I guess I should have learned by now
that even patient love
has its lies!

I love your use of metaphors throughout this piece, Saffie. Very effective. I particularly like the second stanza. Excellent piece.
