One Last Visit:

by Scott Cole   Aug 19, 2015

Her petals glisten with morning dew
It's such a fine sight to see,
How the moisture of each droplet
Fight for survival as they cling.

Their only enemy is high above
With the drying out of the sun,
Soon the life that defines them
Will evaporate and then be done.

So drink up my thirsty friends
Let no worries cloud your mind,
Cause thunderstorms are nearby
So it looks like you'll be fine.

Oh rest your tired and weary soul
And show off all your natural beauty,
Join hands with all your neighbors
While performing all your daily duties.

For you're a sight for sore eyes
Yes you and all your other buddies,
Who share colors with a rainbow
So the forest canopy can look so lovely.

Soon that morning dew thats on you
Will fade into the hot midday heat,
But you'll still have your good looks
Which to my eyes are such a treat.

So as I pay you One Last Visit
There's one thing that you must know,
Old Man Winter is slowly moving in
And your tombstone will be snow.

So get your fill my flowery friends
That morning dew you've been given,
And I'll see you again early Spring
When you've outgrown your icy prison.
