Echoes of the Past

by Mortal Utopia   Aug 21, 2015

Sometimes, you tell me of your dreams:
Distant, yet vivid enough
To hide the silent nightmares
That still haunt you.

Perhaps they're nightmares as silent as
Your painful memories which echo
Like a bottomless well filled with tears -
Deafening in its whispers of loneliness.

I once imagined
Being able to make you laugh -
Enough to hear the echoes of joy
Through Memory's well.

I once imagined
Being able to make you smile -
Enough to colour your dreams
With hope.

I once wished
I could make your pain go away -
As I listened, once again,

To your vivid dreams
Of Yesterday.

It's sad to know that you can't help the one you love so much. This poem expressed that. I loved it!

I love the simple, yet so deep thoughts here. Good flow.
    Nice. Keep writing and composing.
