    Hellon,
This is such a beautifully sad piece, if that makes sense. I read it three times and it just got better and better.
Every line says so much and is so well thought out, and the repetition of "What do you do...." works so well to instil a sense of utter hopelessness.
I would like to say I had a favourite line, but I don't; they are all excellent.
The most touching piece I have read in a long time.
    All the very best,
    Ben

What do you do when.... I keep asking myself the same questions over and over again. Often in life we seem to have reached the end of the road and there is no hope no matter where we turn. But hope is the one thing that keeps us going and we can't lose it. Life is full of surprises and sometimes it will get worse before better. It makes us stronger. Excellent written. Nominated.

    Hello Hellon,

    What do you do...

when the glaciers finally find you and...
    ...close the gap?

Well, it is too late and the fight to stave off the demons has failed and it is time for the long goodnight.

Hellon, I like the layout and you have used it to help the reader see the point. I like poems that work on more than one level. There is so much human nature within the metaphors, greed, theft, selfishness, persecution and more I am sure...

    Take care,

    Michael

This piece is quite thought-provoking. I like the repetition of "what do you do" and the depth of everything you are feeling. Like the universe itself is trying to fight to stay alive but every part of it is broken, overtaken by these demons. It's interesting because a person's "demons" can be anything and you give mystery in this poem, yet a sense of anhedonia or depression, where you feel nothing. There's that hint at emptiness and even if you see laughter affect others and the sun come out, it still doesn't reach you.

    What do you do...

when laughter no longer wants to live in your eyes?

^^ when laughter no longer wants to live in my eyes, my eyes cry of joy because laughter went to live in my heart.

    What do you do...

When the only moon that will live there is fragmented?

^^ when the only moon that live there is fragmented, I would watch the sky at night like I would always do.

    What do you do...

When the selfish sun will only lend you its shadow?

^^ when the selfish sun will only lend me its shadow, I would look for electricity to give me some light, sadly enough I need to see so I can walk my day without stumbling and falling. Fortunately , there's wind and water to produce that electricity. Who knows after a while, the selfish sun might noticed that im indifferent to its shadow that it might come and give me its sunshine. If not, I can still go through out my day until well...

    What do you do...

When demons hang upside down in the stars?

^^ when demons hang upside down in the stars, I would either stop looking at the sky and go inside my house to get some rest, I'm clearly tired to be seeing demons in the stars.

    What do you do...

When life's glaciers finally find you?

    - I get me some jackets, sweaters, and in the worst case scenario a little bit of wine to keep myself warm. I would probably blame the selfish sun for still giving me its shadow. Yet while perhaps freezing, yet at the same time keeping myself as warm and as comfortable as possible, I'll try to enjoy the glaciers. There's beauty in it.

    What do you do?...

^^ the above is probably what I would do... Or who knows, i might just curl up in one ball, hug my knees, and rock myself to sleep.... Until I freeze completely when life's glaciers come at me, due to the selfish sun giving me its shadow....and I'll probably no longer awake but that's just the worst case scenario. I prefer to the above one.

    Nice piece.

    Judging comment:

This poem stood out to me as I believe it's something we've all asked ourselves at one time or another. Hellon phrases them in such an artistic way and a way that really makes you think about the answers.

"when laughter no longer wants to live in your eyes?" I found this a unique way of subtly stating that you're weary and tired of what life is throwing at you. Instead of the common image of someone's eyes full of tears I instead picture someone tired of life, their eyes distant, downcast and full of pain that can't be released.

"When the selfish sun will only lend you its shadow?" I found the 'selfish' added so much to this line. So often we hear of depression, that the sun can't be found for someone but rarely is the sun put to blame for its selfishness in not being able to reach us.

I am fond of the closing line, that it ends with another what do you do, instead of another specific question following it. It allows the readers mind to wander in so many different directions as well as try to answer the questions already asked.
