Together

by Kakera   Sep 4, 2015

Crows came to sing in your absence,
to populate this abyss both of us were drawn into.
With your warm hands, the darkness of solitude
could be forced to break open, so that light
might peak inside, though it never did.

How many times have I dreamt,
that you would rise like a phoenix
come the morning that ends
this cacophony of endless nights;

just to wake up every day
aching in the empty spots
you left marked with pain,
trying to touch that which
is now missing.

O how many nightmares have I endured?
To reach a place this far away from the light,
when all I think about is changing the past
into one where my hands reach you
before you lost your chance to say goodbye.

O Crows of this abyss, slash my throat
and mark this cursed soil with the blood,
as a tombstone, to all the myriad futures
we have been denied the chance to explore

together.
