Rock of the Great Lakes

by Maple Tree   Sep 7, 2015

I spoke to my father for the last time,
His voice has passed on but he beats
Like a drum within his skeletal frame.

To watch him fade has tortured my soul.

I get lost within the music he encouraged me to hear,
As a child I too wrote pain dipped in ink.

I've been so broken, very broken....
The springs of silver are the only thing
Strong enough to slow this landslide down.

I still see him standing upon a lake of fear
Fishing out evil, so that my demons
Become a distant memory.

He was and is my rock... Always will be.

There is always someone in our lives who stands with us through the storm and mayhem like an anchor; and even though they might not be with us anymore or slowly fading away their words and actions instilled in us will never fade.

I like the imagery and each line is webbed with an emotion which is unforgettable making it a vivid read for the reader too...touching write.
