Needle Drop

by Maple Tree   Sep 11, 2015

When you're little, gazing upon a giant Fir
adorned with tinsel, you can't help but be
amazed by it's beauty.

Hearing "Oh Tannenbaum"; I was in the mood for
cheer...

Growing older, I looked beyond the measurement of
religion, spiritual cultures and holiday fanfare.

That tree was crying, I knew the darkness
that lay behind it's beauty because I too was
dressed in shiny things, marketed by my smile alone.

Needles dropping, shedding color, the spirit was gone.

Madness of a holiday left me broken and the firs to die.

They should be left upon a mountainside, adorned within fresh fallen snow, and I should have been left to reside alone with them.

My nature has no need to be decorated and neither does my soul, we are beautiful just the way we were meant to be....

This is quite simply beautiful...and the message does not go unnoticed...

The tree was crying..because it was dying...I never connected with the pine leaves on the floor as tears but I will now forever...normally I have a fake tree but from time to time I will have a real tree...

Yes...they should have but...we both know they won't...

Oh wow this takes me back in time where we would go in the forest and cut a tree down, then take it home and decorate it with real candles. It did look beautiful but the tree was shedding needles so we put it back in the ground after Christmas. That is where it really belonged and not inside a home feeding the purpose. Thank you for sharing.
