Stuck At The Starting Line

by Baby Rainbow   Sep 15, 2015

The doors in my mind won't let you in
to see how I really feel.
I cry helplessly,
as the invader of insecurity sticks thorns in my heart
to remind me that I am splintered.

When I saw you in the distance,
like sun shining through my window,
I made a choice to try and let you in.
But the rattling cage I'm trapped within
keeps me stuck at the starting line,
and my acceleration is broken
because it knows the outcome of letting you in.

So I remain locked inside this rattling cage,
which has a door without a key,
with a pen in my hand,
writing to reach out to you.

I love that last stanza, Saffie. A very moving write again. I see you've posted a few today which I will try to get on in the next day or so.
All the best and well done on this one,
    Ben
