Dying Sunflower

by Baby Rainbow   Sep 15, 2015

She leaves fingerprints of blood
upon a note that stutters her truth,
as she slips into unconsciousness -
dreaming of mirrors in the sky.

She could only ever follow her own rules in life,
but fear was taking over her heart
and she developed a bad habit,
which was the only way she knew
how to escape from the pain.

And even though this sunflower
appeared to be standing tall,
eventually every sunflower has to die,
only this one was too scared to stay long enough
to have to say goodbye.

So she leaves behind a note
with more than just words,
as she listens to the sound of her pulse fade,
as she slowly hears it slip away.

I can't believe that there are no comments on this one yet, I mean, I know you put a lot up at once, but still. Anyway, I love this. It is wonderfully written. I like the metaphor in the title and the pace you set in this one.

    Excellent as always
