Goosebumps and Grins:

by Scott Cole   Sep 16, 2015

Through the misery and the sorrow
I still somehow manage to survive,
Though the pain and the chaos
Is dripping from my gloomy eyes.

I'm doing all that I'm able to do
To soothe this aching in my heart,
And to maintain my sense of pride
Before I completely just fall apart.

These voices that I do keep hearing
Are telling me that I told you so,
Don't go throwing your love around
To everybody you meet and know.

For your emotions and your feelings
They take the brunt of all the hurt,
And it's your ego and self respect
That gets dragged through the dirt.

So protect and guard your tender heart
For it's but one break-up away,
From becoming a prisoner of love
Because of someone's act or betray.

Dry and wipe your saturated eyes
That keep pouring all those tears,
And don't always trust and believe
Everything that you see and hear.

For love comes only from the heart
And it's patient and it's kind,
So never listen to your enticing eyes
Cause true love is completely blind.

Love is not a look nor is it a stare
It's a bundle of joy from deep within,
That cause sheer and pure happiness
Along with many Goosebumps and Grins.

Another good poem Scott and good to see you post - first for a while, isn't it?
You always have a story or something important to say in your work and I love that.
    All the best,
    Ben
