You deserve it

by Yakari Gabriel   Sep 17, 2015

Sometimes life is a stubborn
13-year-old. One that doesn't
want to hear advice, or simply
accept that someone else knows better.

Sometimes life is a warm meal
you were planning to eat as
soon as you got home. but halfway to
the table, the dish falls out of your
hand and spills on the floor

though, its almost always a lesson,
almost always a toddler that just
wants to jump in puddles and chase
bubbles. Until age starts to complicate things

one of these days, you'll wake up.
you'll be 25 and closer to your dreams.
you'll be all woman, all honey, all joy
you'll role to the other side of bed
and touch the one who finally-
figured how to love you right

not because you're beautiful
not because you're brilliant
or talented, or full of hope
but simply because you deserve
it.
