Decade

by Michael D Nalley   Sep 18, 2015

There were times I thought I needed less aid
but so much can happen in a decade.
After I became a half century year old
so tired of waiting for my life to unfold
my mid life crisis about took its toll,
as I held on to my mind, heart, and soul.
I kept my journal for many reasons in rhymes
in case I ever forgot about the good times
or needed a reminder of the lessons learned.
Salvation is a great gift that cannot be earned
Decades in a lifetime are relatively few
most of us have mistakes we would like to undo.
To some six is too many and others nine is fine
Lord help me live for you until the end of the line

How sweet. I am 60 myself and looking back on my life there are so many good times and also the ones I wished I could undo. We have much experience and remained young at heart and you have shown and proven with this write. Awesome.

I guess I'm one of the few on the site who can say,
    "hang in there, youngster!"

Well done poem; as usual your rhymes are faithful.

    Hi Michael,

So the big 60. A good age to be. You have experience with enough vigor to show those youngens whats what.
    A nice reflective piece.

    Take care

    Michael
