Death do us part!

by J Nair   Sep 23, 2015

Why should I keep my vow?
Death do us part!
When several lives later
Here have I found, my lost other half!

I vowed, would I share this life with her
I vow that I shan't leave her side.
And so, the journey back home, when she decides
To Death will I beg, let me be a part of the ride.

Sun rays of dawn is glorious to greet
Only when my beloved is sleeping besides
Hard toil of the land is ever so sweet
When we break bread together at sup, after the prayers are said.

Winter storms and summer draughts
Are mere experiences rough,
And they make me feel stronger and tough
When my beloved looks up to me,
With such tender love and trust.

A home and hearth for years we shared
Little bundles of joy grew under our care
Now here, now there,
Away from home, the birdies flew.

Golden years have now passed us by,
Into the sunset sky.
And beyond the dark,
Together shall we walk,
Crossing over, into a new realm of life.

And I shan't take that vow again
Death do us part,
When several lives later
Here have I found, my lost other half!

All journeys hence forward
In complete splendor we will make!
Together we shall walk!
Together we shall walk!

Good work, unforced rhyming which I love, great passion, it was from 2014, surprized that you did not win the weekly contest?
