Shooting star (( drunk poem ))

by Brookie   Sep 26, 2015

It's ironic that we make a wish on a burning star
Shooting through the sky in a self righteous
Suicide.

Did anyone ever remember the name of it
As it rocketed by aiming for dreams forgotten
By losing innocence?

Or is another light being snuffed out
'by the bigger picture' enough an excuse
To remind you even stars choose to die?

Either way my star was snuffed out long ago
As it ran from the memories of a dozen
Lifetimes...

Isn't it funny how you still mean so much to me,
You're still worth millions of suicides that I've wished on
And im not even worth a memory...

Just a regret.

I think there is a lot to take from this poem, the tone of regret is evident here, and I suppose fits in well with a drunk and alcohol filled mind. But it is honest, and realistic in how you think.

You have worded it well, and I think it is broken up well too into the stanzas.

I could relate to this poem, and could understand the hurt throughout.
