Harvest Lunar Eclipse

by Mr. Darcy   Sep 28, 2015

Over a peaceful
ploughed field
a September
moon rises.
:..................:
Suspended

on a backdrop
of sparkling baize.

Below

A delicate nose
twitches...

She chews on a morsel
And gazes

Up...

Hmm, a shadow,
a stain on the moon
Is it...

Creeping?

She shakes her head
and circles her nose
lightly
With a paw,
then...
hops over to patch
of rather tasty
pea shoots...

Delicious.

Whilst chewing
she notices
the stain has grown...
Crept?

Suddenly:
a
s p l i n t e r e d
scream
causes her blood to
thin...

she hears
A whistling
wind...

sees
outstretched
wings ...

And feels
Claws
Pin,
Pierce and
Puncture
Her
Fragile
Skin

A hooked beak
tears her
life apart
with a
crooked
grin.

Up above

The moon is
Stained
a dark

Blood

Red

Brilliant! Quaint at first then abruptly blood curdling, a masterfull write, well done and nominated!

Brilliant Michael - I take it you too had an early rise then?
