Life without poetry

by Brookie   Sep 29, 2015

My heart beats in lonely solitude
Waiting for your touch to ignite
Remembrance of a meaning
That I never truly had

One day you'll interlock your fingers
With my own reminding me
That even dead souls have meaning
Yet to be discovered by the lonely.

But what if you never come?
And I'm stuck here without you
Believing you'll be by my side one day
Hoping in something that can never be.

Maybe that's why you're all the way over there
Where the sun shines it's brightest while
I'm stuck here and the rain won't let up
As it pours over every dream I'll never have.

At least you're accomplishing something
With the meaning behind the words you've spoken.
I know you've written something for me
Underneath all the things you've given to them.

But I guess that's why my heart still beats in solitude,
Waiting for the girl with wings like a butterfly
While she flies further away from my sight...
And I'm left here alone without poetry.

I think the old saying "if you love something let it go, if it comes back it was yours, if it doesn't it never was", and that butterflies can't thrive in captivity, although that doesn't directly tie in here. I guess what I'm trying to say is, when life takes away poetry, make your own/find it else where (:
