Your Past Will Always Follow You

by Good Enough   Sep 29, 2015

I feel locked deep inside my head
With thoughts that float and dance
Race around in different directions
Never a thought to give me a chance

A feeling of relapse sits still
Like a painting chanting melodies
Swimming to the deep end of remorse
Blanketing me with familiarity es

Is it possible to fall back into the past?
Following footsteps back the wrong way
I'm sinking deeper into my own grave
Remembering the stench of decay

I can feel you dancing on my skin
Twisting my thoughts with every move
Making me believe this was even right
And that everyone can approve

But I cannot back down
This fight will last a lifetime
Trying to remember my own sanity
Forgetting this as a pastime

The blade keeps calling me
And I'm seaming "please no!"
When will this cycle ever end?
I may not ever know....

Great, dark piece here, delivered with an excellent flow and rhyme scheme. Well written.

You can run but you can't hide from your past. Only deal with it.
