How to be a Lady

by Saerelune   Oct 4, 2015

I.

Paint your nails, dark red.
Match your lips, dark red.
Keep the lipstick in your purse
(much handier than a Swiss knife, I say)
and be suave, say it
as if you're whispering into a man's ear
... a simple request
"make me yours"

II.

Don a champagne-white dress
made of lace, show your shoulders
and look back with your
rose-petalled pout. Be vintage.
You're a lady now,
keep the poet in your wallet
like a business card. A plan B.
It will sophisticate you
as much as saying
"may I?"

III.

Forget your nom de plume,
remember your red lipstick.
This is reality, girl,
let the man dream, not you,
else there will be nothing left of you
but a highschool, broken heart.
Keep your chin up,
the blood will only show on your nails,
nowhere else. You will whisper
as if it was your first time:
"I'm yours"

A very creative little piece though I can hardly agree with the lipstick over the penknife line!
    All the very best,
    Ben
