The Lighthouse

by Michael Garrigan   Oct 7, 2015

The Lighthouse

Standing resolute by the ocean
As a beacon in the night
Stood the old tattered Lighthouse
She was a grand old site.

She stood against the Tempest
Appearing to be strong
But the old tattered lighthouse
Had stood a decade too long.

She was beaten by the elements
Of sun sea and air
Weathered by the toll of storms
Other buildings could not bear.

But she maintained her warnings
To all the ships that pass by
And tip their bow majestically
As their way of saying hi.

The lighthouse is a beacon
For all the world to see
Take care as you pass by its way
And soon you shall be.

Arriving at your port of call
When journey's end is near
The lighthouse gave its light
To make absent all your fear.
