Breathe Easy!!

by J Nair   Oct 7, 2015

Holding on to my hand in a death grip,
The first day of Kindergarten,
With a pale face,
Marched on, my brave little angel.
At the door of her class room,
Kneeling down I hugged her tight,
"Breathe Easy Baby, breathe easy", I had said.
At the close of day, she ran into my arms,
Chattering away on the days happening,
A beaming child
Her fears long forgotten..

When anxiety pierces deeper today,
Twisting & knotting my guts,
When the uncertainties of tomorrow,
And the fickle nature of world at large,
Makes each day a load heavier to carry...
With a pale face and a brave heart I step out of home...
My big girl takes me in her arms and holds me tight,
Whispering in my ear, breathe easy mama, breathe easy, she says.

My eyes glistening and my lips smiling I start my day afresh.

Children really do know how to lift our spirits! they always give back the encouragement and positive outlook which we provide to them.

I like the two contrast situations here of mother and child tackling life's issues and that serene feeling this read gives...nice.

      Thank You Meena .

Sometimes the role reversal really overwhelms you.

What a wonderfully clever and original write. Again, delivered in an accomplished manner with a lovely flow and nice clear stanzas.
    All the very best,
