Left Over Fragments

by Baby Rainbow   Oct 10, 2015

The beat goes on inside my heart -
but only under your control.

Left over fragments
of who I used to be,
burn out before my eyes,
as you continue breathing fire
through your evil, vicious lies.

I thought I could keep flying
with this torn up wing,
but you filled my mind
with low self esteem
and guilty thoughts -
the weight of the shame
weighs me down.

The beat may go on,
but I am near my ending,
for even when I win,
I'm losing,
and I am losing direction with myself,
as the world seems not to turn
for these left over fragments of me.

"For even when I win I'm losing". What a very sad, powerful yet truthful line for so many people.
A moving write, Saffie - well done.
