Wow! This is so impressive, Saffie! To start with, the 'magnitude' (sorry, couldn't help it, because they talk about earthquakes in terms of 'magnitude on the Richter Scale') of the first couple of lines brings home the enormity of how you feel! Is this poem about Liam again? If it is, or isn't, why does there have to be fault in your hearts? Why do you want to give up on whoever this is? Whether this is happening now, or is a memory from the past, why do you want to run away from it? How do you know what someone is going to reply when you talk to them or tell them you love them? Is it right to avoid love just because you might get hurt? That is the human experience and everyone gets hurt from time to time. Surely it is the good memories of the experience we should focus on, because without experiences, we are nothing, whether it is to do with love or anything else? My goodness, that is all very philosophical, isn't it? Beautifully structured work. Love it! Just want to finish by saying that these poem comments feel very 'one sided' Saffie! You write them, I comment, and you stay silent! No talk about them, no comeback, no contact, just silence! There is a theme there I think? |
