Behind The Heart

by Baby Rainbow   Oct 16, 2015

We both fought our battles
and gained what we could learn,
making our hearts stronger.

There are so many untold stories
that I want to hear from you,
but I built my wall too high this time
and I don't think you will reach me.

Please understand that if the day comes
when I have to let you go,
it is only because I cant imagine
my world without you,
and I fear so much that you will go.

Because if you knew the insecurities
behind my heart,
would you still love me the same?

Another beautifully written and constructed poem, Saffie! I have thought for a while that all of your poems written with this theme are about Liam, but I question that more and more as I read them! I fully understand the concept of letting go before being let go. Cope with the level of upset and pain now rather than let it get more uncertain and worse. With my past experiences, if I feel shut out or dropped, I also tend to do this! And I know that is not right! I really like the last two lines - confirming your own insecurities - seeing them as a threat to love. If someone loves a person, Saffie, it overcomes the past, what might have happened there, and any insecurities or issues one or other of you may have! The present and the future are more important! And, as I have said before, you have to give it a chance, otherwise you might be making the wrong decision! Good grief, who am I to preach?
