Sleep...
my nightmare;
a place of torture
where I have zero control.
^ This person is haunted in their sleep and in their nightmares. This brings up a point of something in the past that has hurt this person. It is true that we have no control of our dreams and it hurts. I love the use of the word torture because it tells how much of an impact this has on this person about what they have been through.
But lately night time
has become a part of me and you,
where you protect me
even when disaster strikes.
^ But in the dreams or real life they are thinking positive thoughts inside of themselves, of a time where they felt safe In the person they are close to. They are protected by the memory of something so golden that they don't want to let it go.
We walk along the golden sand
with diamonds twinkling in the sea,
then we pick our own lucky stars
before falling asleep on the moon.
^ Great imagery here too. You can see clearly what the positive dream is about here. You are happily walking on the beach at night looking at the stars and the moon. They are at peace with themselves and in life.
So please don't leave me lonely
in the middle of the night,
for it feels so unsafe
when I leave your side.
Lets keep picking lucky stars
as we fall asleep on the moon.
^ Love this ending here. You feel lonely and lost, and the reader realizes it was just a dream after all, and you are thinking about the positive memories you have had with that person, maybe a special moment in time. You never wanted that to end. 5/5
