Once again here we are,
so close but so far away.
What was it that brought us down,
or was I just inept?
Don't try to explain it to my face
because I've been wait for
this fight or flight reflex
to destroy us until
there's nothing left;
I just thought you'd always come back.
We could suffer memory loss
and pretend that we are friends tonight,
remembering all the nights we shared
as our bond of love grew stronger.
But I often wonder
if you ever loved me at all,
because I always believed
that love should never bring you harm!
