Unheard Goodbye

Mostly what I need from you
is to tell me you're not happy without me,
and stop reminding me of all the times
I failed and never won.

Losing you was hard enough,
but not knowing that anything was wrong
really cut my heart.

I always thought you would be
just somebody in the past,
even though I could never forget you,

but I never even heard our last goodbye,
and I wasn't expecting that.
