I love you

by Yrene   Oct 23, 2015

We were born to a touch screen, swipe, zoom in and out generation. You just hold your gadget, open your eyes and you can go anywhere virtually. But please lay down your phone and get your hands dirty with me. Come fishing, hiking, biking, running and walking with me. Let's enjoy the smell of the earth. Laugh, giggle and smile with me while we are at it. You only become a kid once but you can always be a child at heart with the mind of a lady, my lady with freedom like that of a bird's. Let us come clean together and swim outdoors while we can still move our limbs and while the sea and the lakes are still inviting. Let our fats cry out while the sun is still burning. Let's exercise our vocal cords, sing, moan, scream, and cry in happiness while the sun is setting. Let us enjoy the colors of nature that even the blind will get jealous. And as the stars start shinning, let's turn off the lights so they can shine upon us while we look lovingly into each others eyes and not on the screens of our phones as they are charging. Let's hold on to each others warmth instead of holding on to cold pillows. No more sleepless nights talking on skype. Let your facebook, instagram, and twitter accounts die down for a while. They have a life of their own anyway. Let me steal you away from the chaos of hashtags and trendings, and the habit of posting, sharing and liking. Let us feel the here and now. You have me and I have you. We don't even have to say "I love you". The heart can hear the truth that the mouth need no longer say. Let's breathe side by side, smell each other's familiar scent, feel our aging skin, spoon, cuddle, and finally close our eyes with last thoughts of each other before welcoming blissly sleep. Let us feel all the privileges and rights granted to us as children of the universe, let us find home in each other, let us be one.

    Dear ShYerne,

Its a lovely, sensible and honest poem.
With your permission i would love to share it with my kids. They really need to see what sharing love is all about. How the current trend is clearly giving away the most humane sensation of sharing the warmth of nearnes and enjoying the company and living life in the real sense. the message is so clear-for once stay away from these cold gadgets and surrender to your natural element.

    Thank you.

What a lovely poem and one I fully relate to and understand: we have become lost in a world of virtual nonsense, forgetting the here and now, no one able to just put their Bloody phones down for a second! I don't even have one anymore, I'm that sick of them, lol.
My only suggestion would be to break this up into more readable "chunks". Stanzas for instance. It would make it more appealing to people clicking onto your piece.
Aside from that, it's an excellent piece. Well done and all the best
