Little Girl Lullabye

by Robert Kope   Oct 26, 2015

In the morning, she's my glory,
Never know what she might say,
"It's my birthday! Where's my party?"
"Get dressed, Dad. It's time to play!"

Then comes foraging for breakfast,
Wonder what she'll have me make,
Will she ask for toast or cheese puffs,
Hot dogs? Pizza? Chocolate cake?

Every day is such a pleasure,
When I'm with her, savoring time,
Each moment's a new treasure,
With that little girl of mine.

Soon she rubs her eyes so sleepy,
And we rock and rest a while,
Watching as she dreams so deeply,
This old lap, her nest somehow.

Always wakes up, smiles and asks me,
What I'm doing and where's her mom,
"Where's my 'cuppy,' Dad? I'm thirsty!"
"Can you put 'Toy Story' on?"

Mollified with naive magic,
I'm under a spell divine,
Each adventure's grand or tragic,
With that little girl of mine.

Loves to take her bath with bubbles,
Splashes me and laughs out loud,
Makes me forget all my troubles,
This is what Life's all about!

Every night, she needs her mama's
Warmth. None else will ever do,
Cute as buttons on her 'jamas,
Has to have her pillow too.

All is quiet as she's sleeping,
Carry her upstairs to bed,
Tuck her in for safer keeping,
Kiss that little girl of mine...
One last time, on her sweet head.

    Hello.

This is wonderfully written and paints a lovely sweet picture.

One question though, where is her mother?

    Take care

She is with her mother, who hasn't allowed me to see her in over four months. Am in process of petitioning for visitation (begun 7/16/2015) and have my 2nd hearing on 11/20/2015. Hope to see her again soon. Heart is broken. Thanks
