"Every truth I savoured, my lips turned to sea salt" - I love that line. Great write and I love the way you have laid this one out.

    Hello,

there is a thick cord of emotion running through in the words and the narrow form it takes down the screen.

I noticed that the foot note explains that it is about how you feel about, Baxter and Jack' your two pet dogs.

I have two dogs and know that they provide much comfort in times of need. Their loyalty is 2nd to none.

The first section, you describe the pain and abuse suffered. Describing it in most physical way. Like being sucked dry, a kind of dehydration of the soul. This you depict in sea salt cracked lips.

The second section. I see this as your pets being your salvation from being completely ruined by the all the 'mistreatment'.

We can 'pour' ourselves, our tears, words, despair to our beloved dogs and they seem to just know what to do. They provide what many humans cannot. Unconditional love and support. They help by being there, offer a kiss, a lick even. They make us smile as they 'nudge' the 'hopeless' feelings away.

This is a wonderfully sweet and one that I can relate to.

    Well done.

    Take care,

    Michael
