Swan Song (Goodbye) - song with recording snippet

by Maher   Nov 2, 2015

Just a quick note: This song is the sequel to another song "Missing You", which I have on here also. Relationships often end, and this song is the ending of both a relationship and a song. I hope they both resonate with you and thank you for your time in reading them.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

It's time, I believe, that passed us by.
Farewell dear History,
twelve years I've shed through tears run dry.
Could you spare a burden for this martyr?
Waltz us into no-man's-land,
so I can pray these last words to my lover.
Why, oh why must I drown solo?
Picking remnants from the floor,
while distractions plague me to a new low.

Have I not offered everything I held to?
Time, love and boundless care,
wealth and patience all acquiesced to you.

Still, you left without a word.
Albeit, the situation could have conjured this.
The rain drew cold atop this chasmal hurt.
Strewn aside, the downpour surely couldn't miss.
Could you not have said 'so long'?
It was for you I ever soldiered on.
You left the rain to sing swan song.

I clung to shadows of the past.
Although it's present times,
the future seems far too good to last.
And here, there's tales sheathed from mine eyes;
of a King to this taken Queen,
oh the princess was but a shattered dream.
Why, Lord why did she not say so?
There was knowledge in those dreams,
curse these eyes beyond all capacity.

The subtle signs that she'd beget.
The logic she would shape,
infatuation taught me well to forget.

And then she left without a word.
I see, her situation must have conjured this.
It snowed so long atop this chasmal hurt.
Left alone, the blizzard all but failed to miss.
Could she not have said 'so long'?
It was for her I always soldiered on.
She left the snow to sing swan song.

You left me cold, my Love, Swan song.
Swan song, my love,
swan song.

Based on truth. I've uploaded a partial guitar track to YouTube. I'm not very confident with my vocals, so if there's anyone here that would like to give it a shot, I'd be honored to hear it. I know how the chorus should go, but not so much the rest.

I've also uploaded a vocal track of me attempting to sing just the chorus. It's downtuned as my range is low, but I hope it gives a better idea of how it should sound. As a heads up - I am not responsible for any loss of hearing :)
