The Essence of Love (collaboration with Ben Pickard)

by PETER EDWARDS   Nov 3, 2015

Seek comfort in my arms, my love,
And know no burden's grief,
Then let my lips alight upon
Your mouth and bring relief.

For I, my darling, love you
'Till the very end of time,
I breathe each waking moment
In the hope that you'll be mine.

No flame too hot or distance far
To keep my hand from yours;
No mountain high or ocean wide
Would keep me from your shores.

I see such beauty in your eyes,
Beyond all known compare;
A man would walk a thousand miles
To look at you and stare.

So take the rose I pick for you
And run with me through streams;
Dispel the nightmares plaguing you
And ever share my dreams.

For you and I are meant to be,
To walk through this sweet life;
I'll love you each and every day -
My darling, be my wife...

    Wow...who would dare say no to this? An excellent piece from two masters of romance, maybe? I have melted in between the lines. Superb!

    Hello guys,

    I cannot think of two better gents that you guys. Your writing styles have blended in such a way that I would describe as delicious. So if you don't mind I am going to taste your seminal poetry now...

    Oh, *slurps* this is divine, the metric beat the sing song quality is making goose bump all over. The rhyme that all good love poetry should have is exquisite. I am full, but I want more...

    For I, my darling, love you
    'Till the very end of time,
    I breathe each waking moment
    In the hope that you'll be mine.

    Yes, god damn you man, I will be yours. I mean you only had to ask!

    So take the rose I pick for you
    And run with me through streams;
    Dispel the nightmares plaguing you
    And ever share my dreams.

    But, what about my dress, it is dry clean only? Still, the rose is pretty and you could carry me if you like *looks up at you and smiles sweetly*

    I am late for work, gotta go.

    Well done both of you.

    Take care,

    Michael
