My Tender Heart:

by Scott Cole   Nov 3, 2015

I beat to the music
Of my own drum,
I'm weak and timid
I so often succumb.

I'm easily trampled
Full of temptation,
I ache from the pain
And a bad foundation.

I'm as fragile as glass
So handle me with care,
I'm use to the excuses
Way more than my share.

My bruising is internal
I'm numb to the touch,
Your actions are grounded
Your feelings and such.

I pay close attention
To every move you make,
And the more that I give
The more that you take.

My seams are all busting
I can't take all this stress,
Cause I give in too easily
Till I'm but a crying mess.

My future is extreme bleak
So all my hopes are slim,
I'm drowning in misery
And I'm afraid I can't swim.

I'm broken and crumbling
Because I'm falling apart,
But dare not be concerned
Because it's My Tender Heart.
