You crossed the line
beyond the limits my heart can take,
so now it lies crushed on the ground,
pretending that nothing is broken.
I was hanging onto you,
believing every word,
but all this time I couldn't see
that I got it all wrong from that start,
your heart isn't breaking like mine
because you never truly wanted me.
I don't want to believe that I've lost you,
but we're much too far away,
it's just not the same.
I miss you every day
and all I have let,
are memories
that make me howl
through my soaked pillow!
I think that word is the key word to the entire poem. I'm glad you used it within the title, because pain of a broken heart is so powerful... howling has such depth to it... when a person cries into a pillow that want to muffle the depth of volume.... so it sounds like a faraway howl of a wolf....
I may have went way to far into this.. but I do like key words that make you think.
Emotionally speaking, this poem can bring the reader to tears... just beautiful!
