Should I thank you for a pleasant surprise?

by J Nair   Nov 5, 2015

Should I thank you for a pleasant surprise?
Or should I dry my tear drenched eyes,
There has been so much said and done,
Yet life at the edges has come undone,

Such tender strings of love, once entwined,
Vain are they in existence so chained.
Belief that we are blended into one,
Is but a mirage beyond the horizons of time.

Misty rose, and twilight stars
Seem to belong to some fairy land,
Tales of which as kids we spun,
Holding each other's hands.

Brings us together oh yes it does,
Day light's stark reality,
Fusion of bodies in heated passion
But no tender lover's breath, no magic whispers in my ears,
My heart beats I haven't heard from long,
Thumping in madness at our togetherness.

The tears which washed away,
The colors of a stolen rainbow,
Tastes more real as they glide down my cheeks so slow.
Should I thank you for a pleasant surprise,
Or should I dry my tear drenched eyes.

Jay

A response to a call from a lost love.

This is wonderful poetry and the end note made it that much more powerful. How do we react when a lost love calls us out of the blue? Much like this, I guess - hearts "thumping in madness at our togetherness". I love that line and loved this piece, Jay.
Well done and all the very best,
    Ben.
ps. I will nominate this on Monday when I have some votes back.
