Freedom

by Timothy   Nov 7, 2015

You are a leaf on the wind,
Floating and flying, never touching down again;
The colors of the rainbow, whipping through your hair,
Blissful and meaningful as a child's prayer.

The clouds have become your playground,
And the choir always plays musical sounds;
You can now laugh and be happy for eternity,
Because you have plenty of playmates for company.

You have left the mortal coil, this hellish plane,
Tens-of-thousands of you, with so much more to gain;
So many now have a destination of "wherever",
You are free now, and will be children forever!

    Do we and those who depart this world gain real freedom..? Perhaps we do and I like how you have used a leaf as a symbol of a departed soul. It can go wherever it wants to and it might...it might just come whisk by us...a touching poem yet its given a child like atmosphere of lost innocence.

    I enjoyed this a lot, Timothy. I love your use of metaphors throughout this poem, "you are a leaf.......the clouds have become your playground" - wonderful imagery conjured here.
    A lovely take on untimely death, indeed: they can leave this "mortal coil" but head for somewhere better still where they can be "children forever".
    Well done - I love the positive feel of this,
    Ben
