Coffee and cream

by Yakari Gabriel   Nov 8, 2015

I once liked a black boy and
the thought of race wouldn't leave me alone. I kept thinking if
I would truly have the guts-
to fill my womb with a child
that'll look like him
But god,
our bodies melted
into each other
like coffee and cream
a color so distant to his
so distant to mine

Between the
in between's
the kisses, wouldn't
let me think about
it anymore

It just didn't matter
I just didn't care
