Sheltered By Love

I want to hide quietly
beneath the shelter of your love,
and let the safety you create,
give me back my voice,
which has been missing for a long time now.

I wish I could dig up my hidden past,
place it all down so I can try to understand it,
because I just don't know what to believe any more,
but I am scared that you won't believe it,
or maybe just won't understand it.

But sometimes I listen to
the silence of my angel,
and feel safe in the shelter of her love.

Safe enough to dig up the dirt,
find all the answers we need,
then together we can throw the rest away
and bury it beneath the past
where it deserves to belong.
