Lanterns of Lost Souls

by Poet on the Piano & Maple Tree   Nov 16, 2015

I held my cut hands and hollow heart out to the full moon,
wishing like a child to be filled with its porcelain light,
calmed by its innocence in a nuclear sky.

Restore my faith in humanity "oh shadows of night",
release the violence that scatters madness within
a world of purity.

Let me light your spirit, let my lantern warm you
as we cast away the darkness of wildfire and wars,
and walk the path of peace forgotten by many.

Tear showers will rain down upon death,
as our words become more powerful
than bombs and gunfire - we shall rise
above.

Love will be our heart's new armor,
peace sewn into the wings of our journey
as we fulfill our calling to shine purely, day and night.

I can hear a fading whisper
of a precious soul's dying request...

"light a lantern in remembrance of me"

Mary Anne, Andrea, this is a wonderful piece of poetry that moved me immensely. Entirely seamlessly written, which is never easy in a collaboration. The imagery that this poem conjures is wonderful, from the first line on.
This will receive my nomination later.....it's just about worthy of one, lol!
    Seriously, though, a wonderful write.
    All the very best
