Goodbye

by My Mistakes   Nov 23, 2015

The time has come to say goodbye
No more tears and no more lies.
We had a good run, you and I
But now its time to say goodbye.

We will keep the memories shared
Of the times we both cared
But better off we will fare
When the other is no longer there.

So goodbye to you my friend
Our time together is at its end
Good wishes for you I do send
But no longer will I pretend.

I'm sorry that we didn't work out
But I will not forget you have no doubt
Two kids I have that scream and shout.
They will wonder why daddy's not about.

I thank you for my little two
They are my sanity, my glue.
I love them even when feeling blue.
The will be my constant reminder of you.

But I've had enough of the pain.
I have had enough of the games
With us there is nothing left to gain
The kids are all that remain

So the time has come to say goodbye
No more tears and no more lies.
We had a good run, you and I
But now its time to say goodbye.

The time has come to say goodbye
No more tears and no more lies.
We had a good run, you and I
But now its time to say goodbye.

    - The first stanza pulls the reader into your world, your feelings of being fed up, tired, and just broken to the point you know it's time to walk away. The relatable feelings which are engulfed in this first stanza are too much to even begin to explain. You basically described your relationship within this opening stanza.

We will keep the memories shared
Of the times we both cared
But better off we will fare
When the other is no longer there.

    - Strength, such power! This stanza oozes strength, emotional strength. You explain the memories of times you both cared, the memories which will be locked up within a shelf in your heart somewhere forever, but also know it's time to hold steadfast and move forward for both of you.

So goodbye to you my friend
Our time together is at its end
Good wishes for you I do send
But no longer will I pretend.

    - The beauty of this is you don't hold ill will. So many seek revenge but you wish them nothing but the best. That speaks more to me than anything else, that is love not just for them but for yourself. I love the genuine words throughout.

I'm sorry that we didn't work out
But I will not forget you have no doubt
Two kids I have that scream and shout.
They will wonder why daddy's not about.

    - Wow.. This stanza is really powerful. It brought a tear to my eye honestly. A "broken" home some would say. This is sad.You really poured your emotions out right here in a very gripping and powerful way.

I thank you for my little two
They are my sanity, my glue.
I love them even when feeling blue.
The will be my constant reminder of you.

    - Again the warmth and love shines through. Love the description of how your kids are your glue. What a magical metaphor.

But I've had enough of the pain.
I have had enough of the games
With us there is nothing left to gain
The kids are all that remain

    - A somberness to this stanza. A love that seemed so true only came crashing down for you.. This is unfortunate, but I love the strength within you that is standing true to yourself and putting the hammer down sort of speak.

So the time has come to say goodbye
No more tears and no more lies.
We had a good run, you and I
But now its time to say goodbye.

    - Amazing write! The way you ended it with the first stanza even more captivating. Keep your head up, stay strong.

Goodbyes are never easy no matter if love has fizzled out. Even in our darkest moments/relationships it's still hare to comprehend even more so I assume when children are involved.

The whole piece was written wonderfully.

    All the best, Em

Good byes are always painful and at times it is for the best. I assume there are children involved and yes they are reminders but they are our pride and joy.
Nicely written and all the best
