No place safe enough

by Yakari Gabriel   Nov 26, 2015

First they told me that I was lucky,
I wasn't a woman in the Dominican Republic,
then they told the one in the
Dominican Republic, she was lucky,
She wasn't a woman in Lebanon,
then they told the one from Lebanon,
she was lucky, she wasn't a woman in Saudi Arabia,
then they told the one from Saudi Arabia,
that she was lucky she wasn't a woman in Africa

and I wondered,
If there is a place on earth
where we are just lucky to be women,
without needing luck at all
