If Death was a wish

by DarkLight   Dec 13, 2015

In the quietness,
I could hear my peace of mind screaming words,
couldn't master the meaning,
yet I felt satisfied by the absence of my childhood memories.

The calmness within became a burden,
a flicker of what my life should have been,
peaceful with unending love.

But when I look back down my life line
all I see are disappointed gods.
The image fades with every lie I tell,
hoping by the time of my obituary,
the gods with the broken hearts will have forgotten the real look of my sinful soul.

    Hello Busy,

I love this - it really is a well written piece with some great lines.

"The calmness within became a burden, a flicker of what my life should have been"

    ^^^^^

A really sad and moving piece of writing.

All I would say is that the last line should read as "....will have forgotten the real look of my sinful soul" - rather than "forgot".

All the best and I am nominating this one.
