Head Stone

by Michael D Nalley   Dec 18, 2015

For all intended purpose
my life is almost over.
Wind blew sand to hone the prose
which stands above the clover
Words have fallen from the sky
with the rhythm of my heart
counting on few breaths, I cry
until my soul must depart
from those little left remains
of what passed this way by fate.
Save blood flowing in my veins
the hour is getting late.

This poem asks one to contemplate as we all know its truth from the first line: For all intended purpose
    my life is almost over

Congrats on the win! I love the dark melancholia of this verse! The rhyming is good without being forced, with vivid images of life and death, fate, and the swift passage of our time.

    Hello Michael,

Great job here. The rhyme and alliteration are a real treat for the reader. The content though morbid has been beautifully executed by painting a picture that many of us can relate to.

Well done on this win. Bravo!

    Take care
