Ah! and the reader doesn't know if the child received the bike or not.

One. The child could be crying because he did not received the brand new bike.

Two. The child could be crying because he is happy that he received the brand new bike.

Though the title says naughty list affect, so I'm thinking the kids wish was too much, and thus, he cried because he didn't received anything.

    Hi Michael,

In these days of severe crisis, lots of children will be crying there eyeballs out after Santa has paid a visit, most especially when they assume they must have been 'bad' to not see their wish granted.
For parents Christmas is a difficult time, when means are few and wishes of their off spring are big. ( and lots of peer pressure on them as well!)

Well done, much more to this poem than meets the eye.

You are so right Christmas time is too expensive and its increasingly difficult to meet expectations. Dont ypu miss the simple gifts; the homemade toys, the satsuma and nuts.

Ha! Simply charming. a few short words summons a great deal of memory and wishful thinking of shiny new chrome and boyhood freedom...at least that is what a bike was for me as a child.

Thanks guys. My Christmas bike was a 2nd hand racer. I felt like the cat who got the cream.
