It's backwards ( English Sonnets I ) ( Religious )

by Everlasting   Dec 19, 2015

On Christmas times, the stores become like church:
Too crowded, full of prayers, and of songs,
where people go to purge their current urge
For buying gifts for those who did no wrongs.
But also where they pray to God our lord:
"Please, let this soul to find a good discount"
"Please, guide me to the things I can afford"
"Oh please, my God! Protect my bank account!"
But people now a days have it reversed
They think the church are stores to buy some peace
So when they sin, they go to read a verse,
they toss some money, and go home at ease.

Yet church should not be stores that incite fraud.
The church should be the temple of my God.

I'm going to start my count in writing sonnets. This one shall be the first one even though it isn't. I forgot which one was the first one I wrote.

I really enjoyed this piece. You hit things right on. To many people don't realize what is important this time of year.
    Excellent.
    Take care

This is a well written sonnet, but much more than that the message is loud and clear . The irony of the "Son" taking offense to the temple being a forum of commerce is well reflected 5>>>>>>>>>>>>>

    Hello,

A lovely Sonnet with an important message.

The flow is good throughout. Although on the 2nd line I think could be improved like this:

'Too crowded, full of prayers and full of song'

Apart from that this Sonnet reads well.

    Take care,

    Michael

Thank you. Though if I do that, I would be adding an extra syllable as "crowded" is two syllables.
