Before I Fade Away...

Watch me in agony,
see me
as I slowly loosen my grip
from life's joy and glory.
Hear the drops
of my tears.
Touch me
as the cold devours
my flesh.
Stand beside me
while I slowly wither
through time.
Keep me close
as life, bit by bit, leaves my body.
Just once,
be here for me;
just once, hold me.
Just once and for the last time,
love me;
before I fade away...
