Topiary

by Maple Tree   Jan 2, 2016

Ever wonder why a tree sheds its bark?

to add another circle of life.

Each day the tree becomes stronger
adding circles, such as a lady ages-
or a man grows a beard of gray.

I've always exhaled as leaves
turned shades of marigold
and rustic brown.

It's such a breathtaking visual
to see growth and change
as seasons come to call...

Shedding teary leaves,
creating new buds of thought
as spring is birthed.

I'm a tree, gathering seedlings
to my roots, nurturing wisdom
mixed with youthful innocence.

Adding new circles with each breath I take...

And the tree can tell many a wise story if you quietly listen and you can feel her heart beat if you softly lay your head upon her trunk and you'll feel her breath with every breeze that blows through her precious leaves.

I absolutely love this write, it IS who you are ...

Love that last stanza and the whole metaphor of being a tree of course! Such depth and beauty in it <3

Oh and in the first line, "it's" should be "its" with no apostrophe ;)
