I felt both moved by and thoughtful about this poem. You wrote in descriptions both old and new, doing a creative dance that required, in a good way, further reflection. As we often do, for morbid reasons, we see, and I see some beauty in this agony. There is something. . . I don't know the word, but something about finding words for such a simultaneously universal and personal experience. Does your first line, "adrift in the sunken pearls" mean something specific to you and what you have lost? I wonder also, what it would do for this poem to add punctuation. Perhaps you don't want any, which is your artistic prerogative, but maybe it is worth thinking about is you have not hitherto done so. Thank you for offering and sharing your words.
