Sad Inheritance

by Baby Rainbow   Jan 10, 2016

Her dreams walk in and out of her mind,
taunting her with goals
she knows she will never reach,
never deserve to have.

It's the longest night ever
when tears and blood are falling fast,
and she tries to decide
what to throw away and what to keep.

Gifts became painful memories,
reminders of her loss,
which felt like lightning striking her heart
every time they caught her eye.

Demons in her mind torture her
to throw everything away,
every single thing she ever received
because she knows they will trick her
into staying in this life,
but her time is vastly running out.

So she labels every item
and sends them all back
to every single person
who ever tasted her love,

but they never took the time
to taste her silence.
