Tears And Silence

by Baby Rainbow   Jan 10, 2016

Your words scar my heart
when they come out as vicious
as an anaconda's strike,
but each time I held my tongue
because I figured you were too drunk
to tell the truth anyway.

But perhaps alcohol allowed you
to voice the truth about you and me-
that all along I just got in your way
and I became a major disappointment.

Without fail, the sound of your voice
crushes me into days of tears and silence,
days you seem to forget
once morning comes around.

And now, I realise,
I was only being blind and foolish
to the things we won't admit to,
and so I think I recommend
that it's time to close the door
on everything that we thought we had,
because perhaps after all
we had nothing at all.
